Hello! I’m Becky Conway, LCSW and founder of Canopy Counseling, PLLC. My office is located in downtown Glen Ellyn, IL. As someone who has moved around quite a bit and loves to travel, having landed in a cozy office location feels like home. It was very important to me that I cultivate a safe and welcoming environment so that clients from any background or experience may feel comfortable when approaching the shared therapy space.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach to clinical work is deeply rooted in authentic connection, relational work, and partnership. When beginning a therapeutic relationship, I partner with clients to promote a genuine sense of optimism and hope that will endure throughout the counseling process. Through trust and collaboration, we work together to discover the client’s own self-worth as a way of healing. It is through this emotional attunement and empowerment that clients may create meaningful and sustainable change for themselves.

I strive to understand each client’s unique hopes, concerns, and fears for treatment by creating client-tailored interventions. My holistic approach utilizes mindfulness strategies and draw from various evidenced-based models (such as Attachment Theory, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, and Play Therapy) in order to improve functionality and better develop meaningful relationships. During our time together I am committed to listening to and learning from your unique experiences, no matter how similar or different they are from my own. Meeting you where you are, I am passionate about working with clients of all walks of life.

Want to know a little more about me?

Sure! As a lover of the arts, you can find me at as many live music shows and concerts as possible, as well as at galleries, and the theater. I also enjoy being active outdoors being among nature; mainly lakeside in the Northwoods of Wisconsin! I am a wife to a wonderful husband who tolerates my “forward thinking”, AKA intense planning and wacky ideas. I am a mom of 2 wonderfully inspiring and vastly different children as well as a few pets (Gypsy the dog, Theo the tortoise, and Tobey the Leopard Gecko.)

Education & Professional Experience

I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker, fully licensed for In-Person and Telehealth services in the state of Illinois. I received my Bachelors of Social Work from Illinois State University and my Masters Social Work Degree (with clinical concentration) from University of Chicago.

I have almost 20 years of clinical experience with roles in a variety of different settings: private practice, outpatient mental health clinics, schools, and crisis intervention programs. Additionally, I am a Certified Integrative Medicine Mental Health Provider.
