A safe space to rest, heal, and grow

Why Canopy?

When I think of the process of therapy, this feeling of safety and security comes to mind. I repeatedly envisioned images of trees and the refuge that tree canopies can provide. In fact, the definition of refuge is a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble. The idea of clients feeling they may find a safe space to rest, heal, and grow really resonated with me. After many discussions with friends and family, “Canopy Counseling” was grown.

  • I work creatively with each client to reduce challenging symptoms in a number of areas.  I am comfortable with all clinical topics, yet do specialize in the treatment of:

    -Anxiety and Stress-Related Concerns

    -Depression and Mood Maintenance

    -Self-Destructive Behaviors

    -Parenting and Family/Generational Stress

    -Trauma Informed Care

    -Grief and Loss

    -Gender/Sexuality Identity Work

    -Relationship Conflicts

-Executive Functioning and Social Skills Training

-Diversity, Equity and Culturally Informed Care

    -Life Transitions

-Understanding IEP/504 (school processes and plans for students’ needs)

  • I provide individual therapy to children (ages 8 and up), adolescents, and adults. I really enjoy the authentic work that can be achieved one on one in a shared therapy space.

  • I am particularly passionate about supporting parents while navigating various stressors that can arise in any family system. This could look like working individually or together with partners/spouses to address specific family concerns. I also provide family therapy services where a combination of family members are the “identified client”. The goal in family work is to increase connectivity and communication.

  • I have 12 years experience providing clinical supervision to social workers and counselors working towards obtaining their clinical licensure. I am also a consultant for a non-profit agency located in Naperville to provide individual and group supervision as well as consult services to therapists in training. If you are interested in learning more about my supervisory services, email me for more information regarding my supervision program and hourly rate.

  • I have created and presented several trainings designed for both clinical and non-clinical purposes. Various past topics have included: Crisis Intervention Training and Emotional First-Aid, How to Support your Child with SocialEmotional Needs, Anxiety Reduction Techniques, Navigating Social Media/Screen Time and Clinical Implications, Communication and Collaboration in the Workplace … among others!
